Sgt. George Scott

George Scott served in the 2/10th Battalion of the Royal Scots as a Cook Sergeant. He was the husband of Janet Rankine Scott, Partick, Glasgow. He joined St. David's 393 in April 1917.

The 2/10th Battalion was raised in Linlithgow in 1914 and spent most of the war on coastal defence duties around Berwick upon Tweed. In June 1918 they were sent to Ireland, and from there in August 1918 they were sent to Archangel in North Russia. In late October an attack on the village of Topsa was unsuccessful and around eighty British soldiers were killed, wounded or declared MIA. George Scott died on the 27th October 1918 and is remembered on the Archangel Memorial.
